Breast augmentation is performed to enlarge a woman's breasts and thereby enhance her body proportions. Breast implants are medical devices made with a silicone rubber outer shell. The implant shell is filled with either saline solution (sterile salt water) or elastic silicone gel.
Breast reduction is a common surgical procedure that reduces breast size in women who experience pain, irritation and self-consciousness regarding their body shape. Also known as reduction mammoplasty, this surgery removes fat, skin and glandular tissue from the breasts, while lifting and reshaping them to exhibit a more youthful appearance. Large breasts can cause a variety of medical problems, but the patient may also be dissatisfied due to cosmetic reasons.
A breast lift can elevate breasts that are sagging, restoring them to a more youthful position. Technically known as mastopexy, this procedure is the only method proven to lift breasts after they have descended below a certain point.
Whether you’re experiencing negative side effects from breast implants or you’re no longer happy with how they look, breast implant removal surgery may be the right option for you. At Central Florida Plastic Surgery, we remove old or defective implants, as well as leaked implant fluid and scar tissue, with the goal of salvaging as much original breast tissue as possible.
